Linda has been an advocate for safe communities and was Mayor of one of the safest cities in the nation. Her work for society’s most vulnerable, including children, the elderly, and the disabled, strengthened the safety net of services in Ventura County. Linda has been a leader on senior issues, fighting fraud and senior abuse, and pushing for better, less costly ways to provide care. She has also championed better treatment for the mentally ill, and has been a volunteer in numerous charitable activities including as a member of the United Way Board of Directors.
Today, many families are facing challenges like never before--workers facing long-term unemployment, business owners struggling to keep their doors open, homeowners who are upside-down or facing foreclosure. Increasing health care costs, uncertain opportunties for our children and the spector of rising taxes are bringing many to the brink. It is critical for Congress to work together to begin to solve the deep problems that are facing our country and end the divisive partisanship that prevents progress on critical issues.
